Permanent employee, Full-time · London

The Role
We’re looking for a mechatronics-savvy Mechatronics Engineer (m/f/d) to develop Payloads that enhance the capabilities of our Unmanned Ground Systems in the UK.  Payloads that you could work on include radars, optronics, comms systems, drones and more.  You'll work directly with end-users, field integrators, and internal teams to ensure our robots can adapt to the mission and deliver results—fast.

In your day-to-day work, you’ll focus on streamlining the design, development, and integration of electromechanical systems – from system design and component qualification to sensor integration and technical documentation.

To join our team, you should be excited to
  • Own the integration of third-party payloads: radar, cameras, antennas, drones, manipulators, and more.
  • Translate customer requirements into technical requirements.
  • Take control of schedules and timelines, making sure we deliver when we need to.
  • Design robust, reliable, field ready systems for unmanned ground vehicles.
  • Select and qualify components and suppliers according to performance and quality standards.
  • Route power, data, and comms from platform to payload, integrating support systems as necessary.
  • Collaborate with software and controls teams to ensure seamless system behavior.
  • Lead testing, troubleshooting, and validation in both lab and field environments.
  • Support demos, trials, and operational deployments.
  • Act as technical liaison with military users and integration partners.
Your Profile
  • A degree in mechatronics, mechanical, or electrical engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • You thrive in ambiguity, taking initiative to define problems, gather requirements, and drive solutions with minimal guidance.
  • Experience owning a complete Product Development — taking an idea to tested product.
  • Good skills with CAD, we use Autodesk Inventor.
  • Solid understanding of wiring, and their creation, to route power and signals
  • Strong practical skills necessary to assemble your designs including metalworking, 3D printing, electrical wiring, and soldering.
  • Proven experience in maintaining and troubleshooting electromechanical systems, with a strong ability to interpret technical documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills in English is a must, with the ability to articulate technical findings to a multicultural team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, detail-oriented, and highly organised.
