The Role

We’re seeking a passionate Autonomous Navigation Engineer (m/f/d) to join our software team and develop unmanned ground vehicles for both governmental and civilian applications. In this role, you’ll play a crucial role in advancing autonomous capabilities for unmanned ground vehicles, collaborating with a talented team to shape the future of autonomous robotic solutions in dual-use applications.

To join our team, you should be excited to
  • Design and implement perception, planning, and navigation algorithms for outdoor robotic systems operating in unstructured environments
  • Develop and integrate software for multi-modal sensor fusion using data from RGB cameras, LiDAR, thermal sensors, and GPS
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including robotics, hardware, and data engineering, to build and refine autonomous capabilities
  • Test and validate autonomous systems in both simulation and real-world environments to ensure performance, reliability, and safety
  • Document algorithms, system configurations, and development processes for internal teams and external partners

Your Profile

  • Proficient in C++ and Python, with hands-on experience in ROS2, Nav2, and Linux-based systems
  • Solid understanding of autonomy algorithms, including path planning, SLAM, and navigation techniques
  • Skilled in processing and integrating data from LiDAR, radar, GPS, and various camera sensors
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, capable of diagnosing and resolving complex system issues independently and within a team
  • Familiar with software development best practices, including version control (Git), continuous integration, and Agile workflows
  • Experience with simulation tools such as Gazebo, CUDA programming, or outdoor autonomous systems is a plus
  • Master’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Business-level proficiency in English; German language skills are a plus
